Started over 6 years ago as the brainchild of Ian Lutz and Neil Jones, Vern’s Pot O’ Chili has now become its own entity. Beginning as a trio, now holding strong at six members, and having as many as 12 musicians onstage at once, the Chili has definitely had a few changes of flavor over the years. Each member of the band contributes something unique to the sound, the end result being a stew of reggae, funk, jazz, hip-hop, and even a little country. V.P.O.C. has played all over West Virginia and with a wide range of acts and with the release of their first full length album, “Punches and Scratches (2006) hope to expand their horizons a bit farther.

From her Brooklyn apartment in New York, Katie Sawcki has brought emotion back to urban edge folk. Songs crafted from years on the road, past loves, contemplations of a changing music industry and folk ruminations of the crowded city life define this singersongwriter. Hailed as a "Singstress, Songwriter, Lyrical Genius" (Encore Magazine), Sawicki is a self-taught guitarist, quickly making a name for herself. Sawicki is handed down by the influences of Josh Ritter, Jenny Lewis, Ryan Adams, Iron and Wine, and Patty Griffin. In her short career, she has shared the stage with Sarah Harmer, Melissa Ferrick, Girlyman, and Catie Curtis among others. Sawicki's most recent project, Time Spent Lost, defines a new kind of indie music. This album blends the roots of contemporary folk with experimental production elements. Each song is testimate to the careful nature in which Sawicki composes and performs. Time Spent Lost was released on March 4th with a national tour to follow in May of 2008.

"Armed with just an acoustic guitar and a gorgeous voice that alternately recalls Gillian Welch, Rosie Thomas and Paula Cole, singer/songwriter Judith Avers could literally sing the classified ads and still be positively riveting. Fortunately, that won't be necessary: Avers is equally adept and compelling as a storyteller, crafting heartrending tales steeped in both hopefulness and despair."

The Steep Canyon Rangers have carved out a special spot in the world of bluegrass music, creating a sound that looks forward and backwards at the same time. First formed in the stairwells and kitchens of Chapel Hill, NC, the Rangers arrive from varied musical backgrounds. On stage and in the studio, Woody Platt, Mike Guggino, Charles Humphrey, Nicky Sanders, and Graham Sharp have perfected their ensemble approach using fierce dynamics and seamless harmonies. The Rangers base their sound around a stunning catalogue of original songs, drawing on the sounds of early bluegrass, honky tonk, and blues.
In 2006 the International Bluegrass Music Association voted Steep Canyon Rangers the Emerging Artist of the Year. The past year also saw the title track "One Dime at a Time" rise to #1 on Bluegrass Unlimited’s National Bluegrass Survey. In October the Grand Ole Opry welcomed the Rangers for a debut performance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. On the heels of their recent success comes a third Rebel release "Lovin' Pretty Women" produced by bluegrass heavyweight Ronnie Bowman and engineered by guitarist Wyatt Rice, affirming the band’s arrival at the highest circle of acoustic music.
The Steep Canyon Rangers have built a reputation as a powerful, engaging quintet seasoned by constant touring. Their willingness to carry bluegrass to music-lovers worldwide has put the band on stage at Americana and Bluegrass festivals in the U.S. and overseas, as well as major Rock & Roll venues on the national jam-band circuit.

"At the crossroads of youthful storytelling and homespun bluegrass, the Farewell Drifters have built a foundation for a promising musical future.
After creating a buzz in Nashville by performing at major venues including the Belcourt Theatre, the Exit/In, the Bluebird Café, and the Station Inn, they are poised to engage audiences with their infectious melodies, sparkling musicianship, and insightful poetry.
The Drifters’ original songs explore the deepest truths of life in a modern world of pop and simplicity, revealing a new kind of songwriter for their generation. Their debut album, Sweet Summer Breeze, draws on the influence of innovative, yet tasteful creations from artists like Clarence White, Gram Parsons, or even Bob Dylan.
The difference is that the Farewell Drifters have chosen bluegrass as the vessel by which they can express themselves artistically, all the while maintaining a stylistic freedom that gives their music that same sense of adventure.
The result is a sound you’ve never known, but somehow feels like home; and a band with an irresistible energy that will be sure to capture the hearts and imaginations of any who listen.

Eric Lindell is a natural. With impressive guitar chops, a worn, smoldering voice and a rocking rhythmic sensibility, his jam-friendly style converts blues purists and dyed-in-the-wool R&B fans as well as the tattooed and pierced crowd. His voice recalls Stax and Motown-era soul, with a laid-back, hipster charisma. Eric Lindell is poised for a breakout. He has turned heads everywhere he's gone, almost instantly becoming the talk of the town wherever his musical journey has taken him. --An Honest Tune
Born in 1969, Lindell is an "old soul" from California reinventing New Orleans R&B. He has a cool, genuine old school aura that is both natural and refreshing. Eric does his own thing in his own way and at his own pace. His melodic sensibility and fresh approach are most impressive. -OffBeat.

about Woody Pines
“Low-Fi sounds from weird America's rural roots. Resonator guitar, high lonesome harmonica, upright bass, stripped-down drums and foot stomping twang.
Woody Pines has been playing and singing since he can remember. He left home with his guitar on his back and made it through 49 states before he was 19. After landing on the west coast, he co-founded a ragtime jug band, The Kitchen Syncopators, which sold thousands of their self-released recordings. The Syncopators performed everywhere from the streets of New Orleans to Seattle’s Folklife Festival to the Oregon Country Fair. After several years of living and playing in New Orleans, Woody headed for the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, playing old time music for dances, busking for tourists, and releasing his first solo cd, ‘Rags to Riches.’ Woody played shows all over the south, including a stop in Nashville for a guest appearance at the Grand Ole Opry with friends Old Crow Medicine Show. Today, Woody continues to find ways to reshape the old music, weaving new stories from timeless threads. He combines freak realism and vaudeville showmanship with the sincerity and grace of the rich, traditional landscape of roots music. Woody plays with foot stomping gusto, but knows when to croon a lazy mountain ballad.
The Lonesome Two is Tim Peacock on upright bass and Bram Riddlebarger on his stripped-down suitcase drum kit. The full band sound is featured on Woody’s newest release.
